  • computers astound me.

    amazing.

Life is better this semester; more time, more sanity, and I love my classes.  It's all kinds of interesting classes like :
Mechanical design (which has a book called Machine Design by Norton)
Kinematics and design of machinery (book: Design of machinery by ... Norton ) (yes, it's the same Norton)
as well as heat transfer, CFD, ME Labs II and Professional Ethics.
All in all, a good time.

Today, at one point I had on my person
    1 Ti-89 calculator
    1 Voyage 200 calculator
    3 installed spreadsheet programs
a digital clone of the 89 on the laptop
and about 3 otehr graphing calculator programs

I was ready to calculate.  From the Info sheets in Chucks we attempted to back calculate the average hourly pay of a Vecino's employee.  It was fun.  then, five minutes later I found another group of engineers eating lunch who were doing the exact same thing.  Afterwards I calculated an approximate profit margin for the company based on their drink sales and wages.   It's tricky though, as its difficult to find out how much the utilities and the drink supplies are.

  • well, school continues to rule my life and my time.  hmm.
    anyway.

this past week i went to chicago on a one -day trip with the Cedarville Engineering department.  It was crazy.

but, now I would like to solicit opinions from the massive numbers of readers that I'm sure I have.
Which Business Card design do you think is the best?

  • so much to do

so, hw is piling up, work is still around, labs devour evenings, and i wonder if I said "no" to enough.

On a happier note, I feel rested after 4 hrs of sleep.

The honors retreat was really good, lots of fun and excitement.   300 ft zipline, jumping off a telephone pole...etc.

This weekend is the org fair, and being president of 2 orgs and member of another it'll be a busy time.  I got asked to be in a dunk booth, which I would have loved to do, but couldn't.  The org fair/Fall Fling will be awesome.  everyone should come.

well i gotta get going to work.

  • what i'm up to.

    just the facts:
    19 credit hours
2 engineering honors classes (more hw)

    13 hours scheduled work

5 or so hours of grading

    President of ASME, Chess Club

summary: there's a lot to do.

I also just put vista and a tv tuner in my new computer (2.97 GHz) and hooked it up to a 19" CRT that looks GREAT.  I now have an "entertainment system"  woo hoo... if  only I was ever "home" to use it.

This weekend I am going on the Honors Retreat... should be good fun.

Africa, camp and Engineering camp were all amazing... I'll have to talk more about them later.

  • Idiocy never ceases to amaze

I just spent a few minutes reading a comment forum on Physorg.com that amazed me.
It wasn't the new incredible technology or the outlandish promises of wide scale commercialization by next month or even the interesting way that wordviews make themselves apparent in even a "technical" report.

It was idiocy.  A certain user in particular refused to post any comment that was even remotely well reasoned or well founded on facts.  Why?

Personally, I try to avoid posting on such forums--don't get sucked in.

I should get back to work anyway.

About Me

  • I'm a Cedarville University student. Some people say I'm smart. But then again, some people like saurkrout and ketchup on eggs. So who knows how reliable that is.
